It has been said that eating more fish increases the risk of skin cancer ‘melanoma’ in people. This is the most dangerous type of skin cancer and the main reason for this is the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun. Prior to this study, no connection of this cancer with food and drink was revealed. The things that have come out in the new study are really surprising. Melanoma cancer kills more than 7500 people in America every year.
Study done for about 15 years
This study was well designed by the researchers and more than 5 lakh people from 6 states of America were involved in it. Of these, 60% were males and 40% were females. The data of these people was collected for about 15 years and then the conclusion was drawn. The researchers themselves were surprised to see the results of the study. Those who ate the most fish had a 22 percent higher risk of skin cancer than those who ate the least fish. The risk also increased in people who ate tuna fish.
Eating fried fish did not increase the risk
The most interesting thing found in this study was that the risk of melanoma cancer was seen in those who ate the fish thoroughly fried. Researchers have also not been able to find the answer to how well frying the fish reduces this risk. However, in all the earlier studies, it has come to the fore that eating fish in which mercury and arsenic is found is at higher risk of health.
