For this, researchers collected and analyzed data from four studies conducted on 1.92 lakh people from 58 countries. In the study, information was collected about the consumption of fish by these people and they were matched with death, cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, heart failure, sudden death etc. That is, it was seen that how many heart-related diseases occurred among the people who consumed fish or if death occurred, for what reasons. In the study, researchers found that people with heart-related diseases who consumed at least 175 grams of fish a week had a significantly reduced risk of death from these diseases.
Omega 3 fatty acids also reduce the risk of other diseases
However, the study did not find any other long-term benefits of eating fish. At the same time, it was also observed in the study that the fishes which have high amount of omega 3 fatty acids, the risk of heart-related diseases is less from those fishes. Dr. Jerlyn Jones of the Academy of Nutrition and Dieticians told that omega 3 fatty acid is unsaturated fat. Eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid are also found in it. It reduces inflammation throughout the body. This is the reason why omega 3 fatty acids reduce the risk of heart related diseases. The study advised that if fish is consumed even for two days in a week, it reduces the risk of heart-related diseases.
