Paracetamol Price: NPPA i.e. National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority, which controls the price of medicines, has fixed the highest price on the price of 128 medicines. This means that companies cannot sell these medicines at a higher price than this. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has issued a notification saying that companies manufacturing all 128 drugs included in the list should sell their products at the price fixed by the government. NPPA has revised the prices of 128 antibiotic and antiviral formulations. These include amoxicillin, clavulanic acid an antibiotic injection, vancomycin, salbutamol used in asthma, cancer drug trastuzumab, pain reliever ibuprofen and fever drug paracetamol.

According to the notification, a capsule of Amoxicillin will be sold at a maximum price of Rs 2.18, a tablet of Citrigen at a maximum price of Rs 1.68 and a tablet of Ibuprofen at Rs 1.07. That is, the price of these medicines can be sold at less than the maximum price fixed by NPPA. Money cannot be taken more than this maximum amount under any circumstances.

Paracetamol cost Rs 1.80
Earlier the maximum price of a tablet of Paracetamol 650 mg was Rs 2.30, which has now been increased to Rs 1.80. Similarly, the price of medicines containing paracetamol combination has also been reduced. Similarly, the price of Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate combination medicine has been reduced from Rs 22.3 to Rs 16.8. The price of Moxifloxacin 400 mg was earlier being sold at Rs 31.5 after discount, now the maximum price of this medicine will be Rs 22.8. At the same time, the price of some medicines like metamorphine was also increased. Its price has been increased from Rs 1.70 to Rs 1.80. At the same time, efforts have been made to bring down the cost of diabetes medicines.

The rates of combination medicines also decreased
NPPA has also fixed the retail price of medicines with 12 notified combinations. According to the notification, the maximum price of a tablet containing glimepiride, voglibose and metformin combination used in diabetes has been fixed at Rs 13.83. Similarly, the retail price of medicine containing Paracetamol, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride, Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride and Caffeine Combination has been kept at Rs 2.76.
