Extreme weather linked to heart attack: For the last few years, there has been a sudden spurt in the cases of heart attack. Nowadays even 25 year old youths are falling prey to heart attack. Heart attack comes like a silent killer and secretly kills a person. Due to this there is panic among the people that why there is so much increase in the cases of heart attack or heart related diseases. Although in most cases the cause of heart attack is the person’s own poor lifestyle, but many other reasons are also responsible for it. Now a new study has confirmed that extreme cold or hot weather is also promoting heart attack. Means the merciless beating of the weather is causing heart attack. Blood vessels constrict in cold, due to which there is unnecessary pressure on the heart, this increases the risk of heart attack, but now it has also been said in the study that not only cold but also excessive heat can cause heart attack.

Squeeze of the estimation of death of 32 lakh people
American Heart Association website Based on the study, it has been claimed that extreme cold and extreme heat are directly related to heart related deaths. The study found that the risk of ischemic heart disease, stroke, heart failure, arrhythmia, heart attack etc. is increasing due to this merciless attack of weather. This study has been published in Circulation, a journal associated with the American Heart Association. The study analyzed 3.2 million heart-related deaths during the past four decades. Most of these deaths were related to extreme heat or cold. Most of the heart-related deaths were due to heart failure, which resulted from extreme temperatures.

Most deaths due to heart failure
The study said that the way climate change is happening and its effect is visible everywhere, in that situation the increase in heart related cases and its relation with temperature shows an alarming situation. Therefore, more research needs to be done on this topic. Dr. Barak Ahmed of TH Chan School of Public Health, who was involved in the research, said that after 1960, there was a decrease in heart-related deaths. The reason for this was that we had identified the factors responsible for heart related deaths like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure etc. But this time environment is becoming a challenge for us and due to climate change the risks related to heart are also increasing. According to the study, per 1,000 heart-related deaths, there were an average of 2.2 more deaths in extreme heat, while there were 9.9 more deaths in extreme cold. Deaths due to heart failure were the highest among all deaths related to heart complications.
