Hindustan Times According to research published by Elsevier in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology, exercise is beneficial for cardiovascular health, according to a three-month study of individuals with high blood pressure. Yoga lowered systolic blood pressure and resting heart rate, which reduced 10-year cardiovascular risk.

In the recent past, people have adopted yoga very fast and at present it has become a part of the daily routine of millions of people. Yoga is a simple and flexible exercise that benefits cardiovascular health as well as the whole body.

Yoga depends a lot
Researchers said that the purpose of this study was to know whether doing regular exercise can reduce the risks of heart disease. However, how much yoga reduces the risk of heart disease depends on the type of yoga, its duration and the methods of doing it.

Research done on 60 people
Researchers first recruited 60 people who were suffering from high blood pressure and metabolic syndrome for research. After three months, the participants were divided into two groups that trained for 30 minutes of aerobic exercise, plus 15 minutes of stretching five times weekly. After this, participants’ blood pressure, anthropometry, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), glucose and lipid levels as well as Framingham and Reynolds risk scores were checked.

Reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial blood pressure and heart rate were noted in both groups after 3 months. However, systolic blood pressure was reduced by 10 mmHg compared to 4 mmHg in those who did yoga with stretching. It was found in the research that the risk of 10-year cardiovascular was reduced in those who continued to do yoga.

It has been revealed in earlier studies that yoga improves our physical health as well as mental health. The risk of high blood pressure and heart disease can be reduced to a great extent through exercise. It was revealed in the research that along with aerobic exercise, exercise can also be added for the health of the muscles.
